Billiard pendant lights : faites le bon choix

The focused glow of a billiard pendant light creates a clean line, just like a precise shot on the green baize.

Billiard pendant lights are designed for targeted lighting over games tables, but also work as a striking centrepiece in dining rooms or kitchens. Their elongated structure, often between 80 and 180 cm long, ensures even illumination across a rectangular surface with no shadow zones. Classic models feature two to four light sources, spaced 30 to 50 cm apart, to guarantee a balanced light distribution. A billiard pendant combines functionality and style, whether your interior is contemporary, industrial or traditional.

What materials make an elegant and durable billiard pendant light?

Metal: Steel, brass or aluminium frames offer strength and stability. A metal billiard pendant, often with a black, chrome or brushed brass finish, is ideal for industrial or modern décor. Adjustable metal shades can be positioned to suit your table layout.

Glass: Opal, clear or tinted glass diffusers bring a refined touch and are easy to clean. A glass billiard pendant provides soft, glare-free light for excellent visibility over your playing area. More sophisticated designs may combine glass and metal for striking material contrasts.

Wood: Pendants in solid or veneered wood add warmth and are a perfect fit for rustic or Scandinavian interiors. Treated wood is moisture and stain resistant, guaranteeing durability even in busy living spaces.

For more styles of hanging lights, the pendant light collection offers options ranging from minimalist to bold statement designs.

How high should you install a billiard pendant light?

The hanging height of your billiard pendant affects both visual comfort and effective lighting. The golden rule is to position the bottom of the light 80–90 cm above your pool or dining table. This avoids glare while providing precise lighting for the playing surface. For a standard 210 x 120 cm billiard table, choose a pendant 100–140 cm long with three lamps of 40 to 60 W each (or 400 to 700 lumens per LED bulb) in a neutral white (3500 to 4000 K) to reveal the true colours of the game.

In dining rooms, a billiard pendant also works well as a linear suspension above an island or large family table. Match the light's length to your furniture, leaving 20–30 cm space on each side for visual balance. For rooms over 20 m², opt for an XXL design or add extra light sources to avoid dark areas.

For extra accent lighting in the room, wall lights help create layered atmospheres and add bright spots to adjacent walls.

Billiard pendant lighting: what style for which mood?

Industrial: Billiard pendants with tubular metal frames, black or brushed steel finishes, and metal shades echo the look of lofts and retro games rooms. They go perfectly with brick walls, leather furniture or metallic accessories. For a complete look, the industrial pendants collection gathers models suited to this style.

Contemporary design: Clean lines, mixed materials (frosted glass, chrome metal, touches of brass), and geometric shapes define modern billiard pendants. They work well in minimalist or architectural settings, where lighting is a graphic feature in its own right.

Rustic or classic: Wood designs, sometimes dressed with wrought iron details or blown glass diffusers, create a warm and inviting atmosphere. They're right at home in cottages, chalets or traditional dining rooms.

If you want to coordinate lighting throughout your home, the chandelier collection offers a wide selection of luminaires for every mood.

One detail for practical use: above a billiard table, opt for LED bulbs with a colour rendering index (CRI) over 80 to see every ball's hue clearly. A dimmer switch lets you adjust light according to time of day or atmosphere.

Finally, for best results, dust your shades regularly and check the fittings are tight, especially if your billiard pendant sees frequent use or is in a high-traffic room.
